Hill City Intern - Care Team 

Reports To: Daryl Shamel - Care Team Lead 

Internship Program Purpose:Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors. 

What to Expect:

As a Care Ministry Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of caring for people within Hill City Church. Throughout the semester, you'll work alongside the Care Team Lead and the Care Team Resident to learn how care is coordinated, members are equipped, and practical support is provided to individuals and families during both difficult and joyful seasons.

You can expect opportunities to:

• Assist with care coordination and follow-up.

• Help organize ministry events, meal trains, and practical care initiatives.

• Research and maintain community resources.

• Participate in care team member leadership and ministry planning.

• Observe and learn best practices for compassionate, Christ-centered care.

• Develop ministry resources, communication, and organizational systems.

Internship Requirements:

• One semester internship 

• 10 hours per week through the semester of your internship

• Prioritize weekly meetings with your manager

• Attend bi-weekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand 

• One Sunday Shadow Day

• Assist Hill City staff as needed 

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others.

• Heart for caring for people and supporting the local church.

• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.

• Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.

• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.

• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

• Interest in ministry, counseling, social work, psychology, nonprofit leadership, or a related field is a plus.

Hill City Intern - Communications 

Reports To: Communications Director, Kate Merrick

Internship Program Purpose:Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors. 

What to Expect:

• Grow towards being a well-rounded creative - this includes event capture, photo and video editing, graphic design and communication planning

• Learn Hill City’s Communication Team processes and strategy

• Work with Communications Team to meet various creative needs identified by the ministry areas at the church

• Participate in Creative University with various opportunities to step into leadership roles

Internship Requirements:

• One semester internship 

• 10 hours per week through the semester of your internship

• Prioritize weekly meetings with your manager

• Attend bi-weekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand 

• One Sunday Shadow Day

• Assist Hill City staff as needed

• Willingness to learn creative strategies and grow in abilities

Hill City Intern - Facilities

Reports To: Josh Weiss, Facilities Coordinator

Internship Program Purpose:Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors. 

What to Expect:

• Assist Facilities Coordinator with building related tasks, repairs, and installations 

• Help preparing the facilities for events and Sunday gatherings

• Ordering supplies and work with contractors 

• Managing inventory and replenishing supplies, equipment, and other building necessities 

• Learn now to serve ministry leaders by meeting functional needs on a weekly basis

Sunday Morning Role:

• Serve on parking team at 1 gathering

Internship Requirements:

• One semester internship 

• 10 hours per week through the semester of your internship

• Prioritize weekly meetings with your manager

• Attend bi-weekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand 

• One Sunday Shadow Day

• Assist Hill City staff as needed

Hill City Intern – Hospitality / Operations Intern

Reports To: Administration Coordinator

Internship Program Purpose: Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and participate in leadership development opportunities that will serve them in future endeavors.

What to Expect:

• Gain hands-on experience supporting Hill City’s hospitality and daily operations

• Work with your manager to determine weekly priorities and responsibilities

• Assist with purchasing, stocking, and organizing staff groceries

• Help organize and maintain the main kitchen and West Wing kitchens

• Track the inventory of printer ink and printer paper

• Inform your manager when kitchen, hospitality, or office supplies need to be restocked

• Assist with additional administrative and operational needs as assigned

Sunday Morning Role:

• Assist in hosting and supporting hospitality volunteers

• Help wherever needed within the Parking, Greeting, Coffee, or Connections teams

• Set out volunteer name tags before volunteers arrive

• Monitor volunteer and hospitality supplies and notify your manager when items need to be restocked

• Help ensure hospitality spaces are organized, welcoming, and ready for Sunday services

Internship Requirements:

• One-semester internship

• 10 hours per week throughout the semester

• Prioritize weekly meetings with your manager

• Attend biweekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand

• One Sunday Shadow Day

• Assist Hill City staff as needed

• Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned responsibilities

Hill City Intern - Kids

Reports To: HC Kids Staff

Internship Program Purpose: Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors.

What to Expect:

• Ownership of weekly responsibilities within the Kids Ministry space that helps prepare for Gatherings (such as preparing the ministry environments, preparing curriculum or other tasks as assigned).

• Ownership of a focus area within the ministry that will help the ministry improve.

Sunday Morning Role:

• Serve as a teacher in a classroom during one gathering each week on Sunday mornings.

• Fill in other roles as needed on Sunday morning - coordinating a gathering, cleaning rooms, gathering supplies, etc. Serving as a leader within the ministry.

Internship Requirements:

• One semester internship

Hill City Intern - Light Company

Reports To: Light Company Director, Kyle Fritts

Internship Program Purpose: Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors.

What to Expect:

• Be very involved in execution of our WKND discipleship event

• Working side by side with Light Company Staff

• Opportunity to teach and lead

• The rest will be determined with your manager

Internship Requirements:

• One semester internship

• 10 hours per week through the semester of your internship

• Prioritize weekly meetings with your manager

• Attend bi-weekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand

• One Sunday Shadow Day

• Assist Hill City staff as needed

Qualifications:

• A passion or interest in High-School aged ministry

• A desire to GROW

• A track record of serving in the local church
  

Hill City Intern - The Current 

Reports To: Dane Biesemeyer 

Internship Program Purpose: Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors. 

What to Expect:

• Grow in your understanding of Ministry 

• Grow in your teaching ability (Specifically to Youth) 

• Grow in message prep. 

• Growing in your ability to run an event 

• Grow in your attention to details 

• Grow in relationship building with students 

• Grow in professionalism with parents 

Internship Requirements:

• One semester internship 

• 10 hours per week through the semester of your internship

• Prioritize weekly meetings with your manager

• Attend bi-weekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand

Hill City Intern - Worship 

Reports To: Worship Ministry Leader

Internship Program Purpose: Hill City’s internship program is designed to give college-aged individuals an opportunity for hands-on ministry training. This program will help individuals gain practical experience, begin to identify a calling to ministry, and provide leadership development spaces that will serve them in any future endeavors. 

What to Expect:

• Serve alongside the Hill City worship team in real ministry environments.

• Participate in rehearsals, gatherings, special events, and other ministry opportunities.

• Learn the behind the scenes like what goes into preparing and leading worship from song selection, team development and arrangements to rehearsals and gathering execution.

• Develop your skills as a vocalist, instrumentalist, worship leader, or other area of worship ministry.

• Receive opportunities to serve on stage as your experience and growth allow.

Sunday Morning Role:

• Participate/assist in rehearsals, production and normal gathering rhythms within the worship and production team on Sunday mornings as needed.

Internship Requirements:

• Attend bi-weekly intern meetings, potentially including required reading beforehand
